Today is day four of the freedom tour. We are having a blast. Went to see the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier, JFK's familys R.I.P place. It was so touching. I when we got into Washington it was so hot when we got off the bus but thats from my point of veiw. We all burned a lot of calories haha. We got to see the Vietnam Memorial, Gettysburg National Park,The White House and Capitol Hill. Today was an amazing day. We were all hot and tired but everyone seemed to be having fun. There were some problems but the team leaders always got it figured out.By Far this seems to be the second best day. Saw great sites,Had good foods,Did a lot of walking, then came to the hotel. Holiday Inn. Right now we are in Maryland. Most of the kiddies are sleeping but tomorrow we have big plans ahead of us. Can't wait. -Jenny T
Today we have gone to Gettysburg and are on our way to DC for Arlington and the Changing of the Guard. At Gettysburg we got a tour from a elderly man (though very youthful) named Mike. We went in one massive circle around the 148 year old battlefield seeing many of the 1300 different monuments and almost all of the major landmarks. We all saw the place of Pickets Charge and other landmarks of the massive piece of land. Another, being the battle of little round top in which the 20th Maine was put up against countless waves of their attackers. The Union - Confederate peace monument consisted of Maine Granite and Alabama Yellowstone. The union army monument was a large granite obelisk of 20 some odd feet. And lastly the Robert E Lee Monument was a 15 ft square tower with a bronze statue of General Lee on his horse.
Day 3, we have made it so far. It has been a blast! Yesterday we were in Philadelphia. We started out looking at the Liberty Bell. We learned many facts about what it symbolizes. Then we took buggy rides!!! They were so much fun and very educational. We ate lunch at the National Constitution Center. After we ate we watched a multi media showing about our country. It was very powerful and we all learned a lot of facts. With the time left after that we looked around the museum and its gift shop. We took many pictures at the Signers hall. In there were many statues of the people who signed the Constitution. We left the museum and headed to the Amish farms. The Amish farm was a blast. We learned a lot about their way of life. We all decided we wanted to become Amish! Ahahaha! We got to hold and pet goats and hold baby goats. We got to see Mr. Johnson (Steven’s dad) get hit with a slingshot and wet spongy ball. It was very funny. After we left the farm we took a bus tour and saw Amish houses and Amish people. Then we followed that with a traditional Amish dinner. We all chowed down! We ended the day with a dip in the hotel pool! It was very crowded but it was a blast. So we have made it to day four with our brains full of facts and educational notes. See you Thursday!!!
