The most memorable historical spot I visited this week was the Holocaust Museum because it reminded me what the Holocaust must have been like for Daniel, a Jewish boy growing up during the war. He lived but his family did not live. If it was up to me, I would change this part of history where Adolph Hitler eliminated many of the Jewish people. What he did was evil.
I learned that Abraham Lincoln was important in the Civil War. He was president during the war. After the war, he was killed by someone who didn’t like him. Some day I would like to go back to Little Round Top in Gettysburg with my children because I think they might find it interesting.
On our last day of the Freedom Tour we went to the Apollo theatre and I sang Oklahoma in front of an audience but I didn’t think I could do it. I did it and I felt really proud afterwards.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
Today we went to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. I always heard about it and Adolf Hitler but to see some of the stuff what the Nazis did with my eyes, was just sick. As I went on through the tour it made me want to try and put myself in Nazi Germany. I went through a tour of what it would be like for a boy my age and what he went through is unimaginable. They had all their basic rights taken away and then tortured because they were not the “Ideal” group of people for Hitler. Some things that I saw were shoes that were taken from the prisoners. Another thing was pictures of the hair that was shaved off of the people. The things that the Nazis did to the Jews were just pure evil. To close, I kept wondering what the prisoners were living for, why they did not give up and end their lives. As I said, it is unimaginable since of the safe and comfortable lives I live in and everyone else in this country.
It’s Wednesday already. I can’t believe how fast the week has gone by. Today we went to the Holocaust Museum. We were all standing in line and I think, “What does the word Holocaust really mean?” I ask our bus leader, Phil, what it is. He gives me a hint that it has to do with fire. Through the whole museum I’m thinking what it means. At the end of the museum I still didn’t know what it meant. I went up to the information desk and asked one of the men there. He told me that it meant the burning of a body. I then told Phil. A lot of kids know what went on during the Holocaust but don’t know the real meaning of the word. Walking through the museum was a great experience. We are now on the bus heading to New Jersey. See you all tomorrow! Go Blue Bus!
