Today is the last day of the freedom tour and we are all very tired. Today we went to Rockefeller center and saw the TODAY show which was very exciting. We all got to see Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira and some of us got to have the pleasure to shake their hands. If you were watching the show this morning then you might have scene that a couple of us were on it but not all. Right now we are driving homeward bound and as I look to the back of the bus I see people sleeping and talking very softly. This is very unusual for our bus because we are the party bus, we sing, we dance, and we are known for it by the other buses. Over all this trip has been very fun and I have learned a ton of stuff about history but most important, I had a lot of fun just hanging with friends. Nothing beats hanging with friends. I would like to thank all the people that put this together so I could have this unforgettable experience.
Our last day…so sad. We woke up at the crack of dawn at 5:30am. We were on the Today’s show and we walked around NYC. Our last event we did was the Apollo theatre. The tour guide was hilarious and had met a lot of the famous singers. He took us on a tour of the theatre. The last thing we did was an amateur performance. He had ten acts come up and perform. Everybody sang. We had a blast! The tradition was though that every time someone comes up and performs they have to rub the magic stump before they started their act. The guy had a stump on a pedestal. We had rappers, hip hop, Broadway, and dancing. Everybody did a good job and were very brave. It was a very fun last event. Overall this trip has the best time of my 8th grade life. You get to experience and see different things and people and you get to spend time with friends. We will be home in about 6 hours See you then!
Today was the last day… But one of the best, we started our day in New Jersey and ended in New York.
The first thing we did today was we went on the Today Show. It was funny because two of the kids Tommy and Dan got a hug and kiss on the check from Meredith the lady from the news. We went to the Rockefeller center. My favorite thing about it was the sites you could see from up high like the empire state building and stuff like that. We also went walking around New York, We went places in Times Square there we went to the M&M store, the big toys r us which had more sugar then you could imagine . The last place we went before we hit the road was the Apollo Theater. People got to sing and dance the people were quite good. The man who helped us was very nice. Were on our way home can’t wait to go to Maine. We have 6 hours on the bus See everyone then Bye .

My Week
The most memorable historical spot I visited this week was the Holocaust Museum because it reminded me what the Holocaust must have been like for Daniel, a Jewish boy growing up during the war. He lived but his family did not live. If it was up to me, I would change this part of history where Adolph Hitler eliminated many of the Jewish people. What he did was evil.
I learned that Abraham Lincoln was important in the Civil War. He was president during the war. After the war, he was killed by someone who didn’t like him. Some day I would like to go back to Little Round Top in Gettysburg with my children because I think they might find it interesting.
On our last day of the Freedom Tour we went to the Apollo theatre and I sang Oklahoma in front of an audience but I didn’t think I could do it. I did it and I felt really proud afterwards.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
Today we went to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. I always heard about it and Adolf Hitler but to see some of the stuff what the Nazis did with my eyes, was just sick. As I went on through the tour it made me want to try and put myself in Nazi Germany. I went through a tour of what it would be like for a boy my age and what he went through is unimaginable. They had all their basic rights taken away and then tortured because they were not the “Ideal” group of people for Hitler. Some things that I saw were shoes that were taken from the prisoners. Another thing was pictures of the hair that was shaved off of the people. The things that the Nazis did to the Jews were just pure evil. To close, I kept wondering what the prisoners were living for, why they did not give up and end their lives. As I said, it is unimaginable since of the safe and comfortable lives I live in and everyone else in this country.
It’s Wednesday already. I can’t believe how fast the week has gone by. Today we went to the Holocaust Museum. We were all standing in line and I think, “What does the word Holocaust really mean?” I ask our bus leader, Phil, what it is. He gives me a hint that it has to do with fire. Through the whole museum I’m thinking what it means. At the end of the museum I still didn’t know what it meant. I went up to the information desk and asked one of the men there. He told me that it meant the burning of a body. I then told Phil. A lot of kids know what went on during the Holocaust but don’t know the real meaning of the word. Walking through the museum was a great experience. We are now on the bus heading to New Jersey. See you all tomorrow! Go Blue Bus!
