Rain Rain GO AWAY!!

Does
Does anyone want to take a guess about the weather today? In case you didn’t know it wasn’t picnic weather, at all. Still, memories were made. I can’t deny today that. The day started at 6:30 for most teams. Not mine sadly; I have been ‘blessed’ with early risers. A quality I lack. With the alarm blaring at 5:50 we started our day. Breakfast was at the hotel’s restaurant. I can’t tell you what they had…aside from the blue bagels. I mean really? Who can forget blue bagels? Then it was off to the Tenement Museum. That place was cold, but luckily wasn’t raining. My group learned about a German Jewish family in the 1880’s. They had 4 or 5 kids. The youngest didn’t make it past age 4. His name was Isaac. The family lived in a 3 room apartment and the husband ran off. The then single mother that couldn’t speak English became a seamstress. After that we headed off to take a ferry to Ellis Island. That’s when the down pour started. The first stop was the Statue of Liberty. We didn’t get to get off the ferry but got some good pictures. Once we took off again a few others went out front. It was really coming down and the wind was awful but they had fun. At the island we had a quick lunch (cheese fries for me), and looked around. We were given a journal assignment about a picture of our choice. Then we came back our time was limited. The ferry ride back was busy. When we got off we were supposed to go touring on our own for a really long time in Little Italy and Chinatown. Instead we went on a Bus Tour, from the comfort of our own bus. We saw the Peace Memorial. For those of you that may not know it’s a (really big) handgun with a tied barrel. I know it’s a symbol and everything but if that happened and someone tried to shoot it… it wouldn’t end well. After the tour we went to Little Italy for dinner. Everyone spilt up and my group went to a Chinese Noodle place. The only thing we had there were chopsticks and spoons to eat with but we made it. Everybody was happy with dinner. Then the bus ride. Yes, the bus ride. We listened to music the ride home and most of the bus belted out “Miss American Pie” and “YMCA.” Truly a night to remember.
